Context: The BRICS Tourism Ministers’ Meeting under India’s 2026 Chairship concluded in Jaipur, Rajasthan with the adoption of the BRICS Tourism Ministers’ Communiqué 2026 (Jaipur Declaration). The meeting finalized BRICS Tourism Track under the overarching theme: “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.”

Four Thematic Priorities of the Jaipur Declaration:

1. Artificial Intelligence and Tourism: Promotes responsible, human-centered AI for travel facilitation, digital visitor services, destination management, and multilingual communication.

2. Sustainability and Responsible Tourism: Emphasizes protecting natural and cultural heritage, developing eco-friendly tourism infrastructure, and driving community-centered economic growth.

3. Tourism Skilling and Capacity Building: Focuses on continuous upskilling, industry-academia partnerships, and data-sharing frameworks across BRICS economies.

4. Tourism Exchanges and Seamless Travel: Enhances people-to-people connectivity, simplifies travel protocols, and encourages investment in diverse tourism products.

Key importance:

• • Highlights tourism’s capacity to decentralize economic growth beyond major urban centers to rural areas, towns, and remote regions.
  • Creates sustainable livelihood opportunities for local homestays, artisans, weavers, taxi operators, tour guides, and agricultural communities.
