QUOTATIONS AND CAPTIONS

  • Interdependence, of course, is a fundamental law of nature. Not only higher forms of life but also many of the smallest insects are social beings who survive by mutual cooperation based on an their interconnectedness.
  • As India positions itself as a global leader in STEM, harnessing its untapped pool of female talent through targeted policies could drive systematic change, advancing both digital and physical equity for women worldwide.
  • By including more girls and women, particularly from diverse backgrounds, on technical and scientific teams, we can ensure that the development of new technologies addresses women’s unique challenges around access, digital literacy, and online abuse.
  • More than the administrative, legal and constitutional issues, the deepest problem with the ONOE is the political design inherent in it. Clearly, holding the national and state elections together would give an edge, a small to moderate vote swing, in favour of a national party and against regional parties.
  • There cannot be a state monopoly on facts in a democracy, and the Bombay high court has just reaffirmed it.
  • Indo-Pacific partners have put ASEAN centrality as a prime operating principle for multilateral engagements and initiatives.
  • India must remember that for it, the Quad coalition is rooted in realism, more than an ideational choice. The US has issues with India as well; just that China ones are imminent and intimidating.
  • India’s strategic autonomy requires a tough balancing of its geographical realities, strategic interests, and relations vis-à-vis apparent friends and threats.
  • India is not only a geopolitically significant partner in the Indo-Pacific for the West to counter China, but India is the only option to avoid pushing Russia completely into the Chinese fold.
  • India is the emerging voice of the Global South and a crucial partner to keep in confidence while designing the matrix of the developing world.
  • While a majority of the experts agree that constitutional amendments are necessary, they contend that these changes would not be anti-democratic or anti-federal, nor would they undermine the Constitution’s basic structure or lead to a presidential form of government.
  • India, with its strategic location and economic influence, sees itself as a natural leader in advocating for an inclusive, prosperous Indo-Pacific.
  • India’s leadership within the Quad reflects its commitment to fostering cooperation in the Indo-Pacific, ensuring that it remains a region of stability and shared prosperity.
  • Electoral reforms should be accelerated by empowering the Election Commission to implement reforms with a one-year notice to Parliament.
  • It is time to bring sweeping reforms to India’s electoral system to ensure a more transparent, accountable, and stable political process.
  • Rather than looking at social media as an enemy to be vanquished, we should view it as a tool that requires careful handling.
  • In a society that nurtures patriarchal social norms the deeply ingrained gender biases and prejudices can only be removed through a change in the mindset.

ESSAY TOPIC

  • Smallness adores and adorns itself – greatness is humble.

50-WORD TALK

  • Sri Lanka has demonstrated democratic maturity by conducting fair and peaceful elections two years after a very bruising period of turmoil and economic difficulties. Ranil Wickremesinghe ran a stable government and oversaw the smooth transition of power to Anura Kumara Dissanayake—a process in which he lost, but the nation gained.
  • By striking down Centre’s egregious “fact checking unit” as violative of Constitution, Bombay High Court has taken a virtuous stand for justice and free speech. It has again underlined why Bombay has historically been among our finest High Courts. Hope the Centre would be suitably chastened, and other courts inspired.
