  • India’s latest health report card says our total fertility rate has fallen to 2.0, so headcount stability is a given. The state mustn’t interfere with family size—it violates our Constitution.
  • The efforts to stem stunted growth among children too have not been encouraging, even as malnourishment remains a formidable challenge. An increase in public health investment is called for.

  • Most economies today understand the power of data-driven opportunities for trade and India has to step up its game at the global stage on the digital front.
  • India’s outlook to shape a futuristic digital economy could only be successful with the investments or riches generated through trade.
  • India needs to emphasise to the world where its scorecard is better than many of the developed countries, who frequently lecture India on emission flows.

This proves the more of the same approach isn’t working anymore and calls for urgent correctives, starting with raising the Rs 10 per beneficiary cost limit.
