SAIME (Sustainable Aquaculture in Mangrove Ecosystem) Initiative

    • An initiative of sustainable shrimp cultivation for mangrove restoration in Sundarbans.
    • It is a community based pilot project in West Bengal under which farmers are planting mangrove trees around shrimp ponds.
    • It is conceived by Nature Environment and Wildlife Society (NEWS), Global Nature Fund among others.
    • It is based on the concept of multi-stakeholder partnerships (MSP) between India, Bangladesh, and Germany.
