AIM:

To establish India as a global leader in technical textile and increase its use in the domestic market.

FEATURES:

    • Implementation period: FY 2020-21 to 2023-24.
    • Target: To increase domestic market size from $40 to $50 billion by 2024 with average growth rate of 15-20% per annum.
    • Focus: To develop its usage in various flagship missions including strategic sectors and facilitate market development.
    • It has 4 components:
Research, Innovation and DevelopmentThe research activities based on pooled resource method and conducted in various labs.
Promotion and Market DevelopmentTo increase penetration of technical textile through market promotion, market development, international collaborations etc.
Export PromotionAn Export Promotion Council be setup for effective coordination and promotion activities.
Education, Training, Skill DevelopmentPromote technical education at higher levels to ensure adequate pool of highly skilled manpower resources.
    • Establishment of Mission Steering Group to approve all financial norms pertaining to mission.
    • Empowered Programme Committee to oversee execution of various components.
