QUOTATIONS AND CAPTIONS

  • A nation that is proud about being self-sufficient in its food needs to qualify as being a hunger-free nation as well.
  • Food sufficient regions in the world should ensure redistribution in a humanitarian manner so that the food deficient ones are not left out.
  • There needs to be a transformation of India’s agri-food system, ensuring that healthy diets are available and affordable for all.
  • A powerful implication of the digital rupee is its potential to combat tax evasion.
  • The digital rupee offers India a unique opportunity to modernise its economy, enhance financial inclusion, and boost tax revenues.
  • As a nation, we continue to fail vast numbers of our youth by not providing the bare minimum they need to move forward — affordable, accessible education.
  • Mental health remains an afterthought in our healthcare narrative. The true healing encompasses both body and mind.
  • Mental health is not a luxury or a sign of weakness. It is an integral part of overall well-being.
  • India’s democratic fabric demands that citizens and leaders recognise and resist these divisive forces, promoting national unity and social cohesion.
  • The rise of social media has amplified divisive rhetoric, making it easier to spread misinformation and fuel tensions.
  • Democratisation does not emerge simply from handing over access to software or a machine but it becomes real only if there is decentralised mass participation in the making of the technology and determining its usage.
  • India’s current approach to boosting manufacturing relies heavily on identifying specific industries and providing government support to select firms through Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes.
  • While PLIs can encourage both foreign and domestic companies to invest in India, they are not a substitute for a stable, predictable business environment.
  • PLIs may offer short-term benefits, but they are unlikely to significantly enhance the long-term global competitiveness of Indian firms.
  • If India is to become an alternative to China or a ‘China Plus One’ economy, it will need to reconsider its current approach to building its manufacturing sector, which has remained stagnant over the last decade.
  • Citizens and media must defend their right to information failing which the RTI Act will be converted into a right to deny information.
  • An international convention binding state and non-state actors is imperative to ensure coordinated response against the economics of this crime, and for identification of perpetrators, their networks, and for rehabilitation of child victims.
  • The release of the report, weeks before the CoP16 biodiversity summit in Colombia, where countries will meet for the first time since agreeing on a set of international targets to halt the degradation of biodiversity, is significant.

ESSAY TOPIC

  • The unexamined life is not worth living

50-WORD TALK

  • India-Canada relationship lies shattered. Too late for Trudeau to learn from how cleverly the US handled the same issue with India. Canada and India have too much at stake not to mend ties. It’ll be a long haul. Even if Trudeau loses, he’s leaving a scorched earth for his successor.
