QUOTATIONS AND CAPTIONS

  • A strong government should mean effective, fair administration — in other words, good governance.
  • The court’s recent emphasis on safeguarding the rights of the accused underlines the need for a more balanced approach — one that ensures the guilty are punished, while protecting individuals from unjust persecution.
  • As the ED continues to expand its reach, it must heed these judicial admonitions and prioritise fair and rigorous investigations.
  • Politics and ethics may appear to be poles asunder, but they can be welded into a scrupulous unit for the survival of a democracy.
  • In recent bail rulings, the apex court asserted the need to protect individual liberty while upholding the law, even in PMLA and UAPA cases.
  • Singapore’s centrality in India’s Southeast Asia outreach is reflected in the two countries’ cooperation in multilateral forums.
  • There is an urgent need to find remedies to deal with the suicide epidemic in India, and it does not lie in cosmetic steps like installing lightweight fans in student hostels, keeping a strict check on the sale of pesticides and patrolling lakes.
  • As the rupee weakens and inflation rises, strategic economic reforms to boost domestic manufacturing and reduce import dependency are urgently needed.
  • There is urgent need for comprehensive disaster management and infrastructure reforms to protect lives and property from future monsoon fury.
  • The implementation of lateral entry has sparked serious concerns about social justice and the representation of marginalised groups in the Indian bureaucracy.
  • The introduction of lateral appointments has been met with mixed reactions within the bureaucracy. While it brings in specialized knowledge and fresh perspectives, it also poses several risks to the traditional bureaucratic structure.
  • With threats ranging from deepfake exploitation to harassment on gaming platforms there is urgent need to safeguard women’s rights online.
  • As India rises to become a global superpower, it faces challenges not only from within but also from international entities that aim to disrupt its economic and political stability.
  • Despite its vigorous ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy, India has struggled to maintain stable and lasting relationships with neighboring countries.

ESSAY TOPIC

  • Perseverance is more prevailing than violence.

50-WORD TALK

  • A lack of awareness about mental health issues, deficient medical services and tremendous social stigma attached to such problems have put us at a disadvantage. Addressing these issues might be the first step in suicide intervention, which can be followed by focusing on concerns of the most vulnerable groups.
