QUOTATIONS AND CAPTIONS

  • The property of the elite being bequeathed to descendants implies that the descendants do no work to acquire it. There is no economic reason for it to be a freebie for them.
  • Plastic pollution cannot be ended by treaties, without investment in alternatives.
  • As water and dam safety can be used by some elements to arouse emotions, the political leadership in both States should be proactive in thrashing out the differences.
  • With the changing nature of inflation and macroeconomic turbulence, remaining committed to inflation-targeting seems daunting.
  • The RBI needs to frame a comprehensive policy to make determined efforts to address and supplement IT with prudent actions to counter supply-side disruptions especially, affecting food prices.
  • It is time that elected representatives live up to the expectations of their electors as responsible, honest and devoted community leaders.
  • Corporate governance is essential to develop and enforce policies, procedures and standards in AI systems.
  • Policy for the telecom sector is best left to TRAI and DoT; to auction or not to auction is a task given to them and they should be responsible for it and be made accountable.
  • Renewable power plays a crucial role by ensuring energy through resource planning, optimising energy mix, infrastructure planning, policy formulation and economic analysis.

  • The correlation among climate change-induced droughts, soaring temperatures and the spike in forest fires demands urgent attention from policymakers and environmentalists.

ESSAY TOPIC

  • If you want to test a man’s character, give him power.

50-WORD TALK

  • As Elon Musk comes calling, India’s notification of 100% FDI in space sector is timely. It isn’t automatic. FDI above 49% or 74% will need government approval. Unfortunately, we’ve seen the ‘system’, armed with discretions, defeat many reforms. We can only hope this won’t be the fate of space FDI.
