QUOTATIONS AND CAPTIONS

  • There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest.
  • As water and dam safety can be used by some elements to arouse emotions, the political leadership in both States should be proactive in thrashing out the differences.
  • The Court’s blanket acceptance of such an energy transition undermines its own assertion regarding a clean and healthy environment being a fundamental human right. To ensure such a right, it ought to consider the potential of alternatives to these mega-projects.
  • It is simply incontestable that the economic disparity between the rich and the poor has widened alarmingly over the last two decades, not just in India but across the world.
  • India’s inequality is a result of lopsided economic growth and taxation. It is well established that India is experiencing jobless growth where headline GDP growth does not translate into jobs, incomes and prosperity for a large majority.
  • It is important to ensure a social security net through welfare programs for the poor until they can reap gains of economic growth.
  • A pragmatic approach to reducing the rich-poor gap is by maximising economic growth, minimising unemployment, lowering the tax burden for the common person and providing a safety net for the poor.
  • India can reduce inequality by making the poor richer without having to make the rich poorer.
  • Policy for the telecom sector is best left to TRAI and DoT; to auction or not to auction is a task given to them and they should be responsible for it and be made accountable.
  • Renewable power plays a crucial role by ensuring energy through resource planning, optimising energy mix, infrastructure planning, policy formulation and economic analysis.
  • Sustainable growth is possible but not guaranteed. Vested parties often succeed in delaying the adoption of new innovations.
  • Teachers operating in complex and challenging environments are constrained by self-limiting beliefs about their ability to raise student learning.
  • The correlation among climate change-induced droughts, soaring temperatures and the spike in forest fires demands urgent attention from policymakers and environmentalists.
  • India stands at the threshold of a transformative era in the gaming industry. By fostering an enabling environment for skill gaming, promoting diversity and inclusion, and capitalising on its rich cultural narratives, India can not only realise its vision of a $1-trillion digital economy but also shape the future of gaming on a global scale.
  • Morality depends on one’s efforts to maintain a balance regarding time, place and person, and, therefore, there may be differences in moral code.
  • Without goodwill, conferences end in bickerings, assemblies achieve nothing, resolutions are considered mere scraps of paper, economic remedies cannot prove effective and legal acts or social reforms cannot bring the desired change.
  • Cybersecurity is not just about safeguarding the data rather it’s about safeguarding trust, privacy and freedom in the digital age.

ESSAY TOPIC

  • If you want to test a man’s character, give him power.

50-WORD TALK

  • As Elon Musk comes calling, India’s notification of 100% FDI in space sector is timely. It isn’t automatic. FDI above 49% or 74% will need government approval. Unfortunately, we’ve seen the ‘system’, armed with discretions, defeat many reforms. We can only hope this won’t be the fate of space FDI.
