QUOTATIONS AND CAPTIONS

  • The top court’s judgment takes into account the different sociological realities of every ‘jati’ with the aim of addressing the disparity within Scheduled Castes.
  • The idea of sub-classification aligns with B.R. Ambedkar’s principles of fraternity and Maitri, emphasising the need for cooperation and mutual respect among Scheduled Castes (SC).
  • As India aims to develop world-class infrastructure and urban planning, it can look to Singapore’s deep experience on urban development for investment and inspiration. Singapore has presence in advanced manufacturing capabilities that can benefit India.
  • The Supreme Court disapproves “bulldozer justice,” urging standardized guidelines to prevent arbitrary demolitions and uphold due process in legal actions.
  • True education must be human and humane. It must include not only training of intellect but refinement of the heart and discipline of the spirit.
  • Political and economic instability in Bangladesh has given India an opportunity to regain lost ground. The key is to reduce production costs and improve productivity without compromising on quality.
  • Inspired by PM Modi’s “Ek Ped Ma Ke Naam” initiative, the Chhattisgarh Government has launched the ambitious “People for Peepal” plantation drive in Nava Raipur.
  • The focus on advanced manufacturing and digitalisation aligns with India’s broader goal of transforming into a global manufacturing hub.
  • Crimes against women happen not because laws against the crimes are weak but because of other factors, including their poor implementation. The West Bengal law provides for quick investigation and prosecution of cases.
  • As a key player in the GBA, India can enhance its energy security, drive economic growth, and strengthen its leadership in the biofuel sector while meeting its national and climate goals.
  • While the world has moved towards a new public management system, adopting a new governance model and discarding traditional bureaucracy, we are still stuck with an archaic system of governance.
  • Transit-oriented development is not limited to making money from tall buildings near transit but also concerns sustainably improving accessibility and liveability in our cities.
  • We seek the emergence of a multipolar world and a multipolar Asia. That can happen only when the Indian economy is bigger, more productive and dynamic.
  • While the Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill, 2024 aims to improve disaster management through UDMAs and strengthen national and state authorities, its effectiveness is being questioned.
  • The pursuit of critical minerals does not come at the expense of the environment; a global moratorium on deep-sea mining should be the natural course of action.

ESSAY TOPIC

  • Smallness adores and adorns itself – greatness is humble.

50-WORD TALK

  • Killing of Faridabad’s Aryan Mishra should frighten us not because he was mistaken for a Muslim cow smuggler. India should worry that this phenomenon of arming vigilantes with legitimacy, weapons and licence to kill has gone on for a decade. It’s the equivalent of blasphemy rule where everyone’s a target.
