1. Uniform Recall Period (URP):

- Consumption data for ALL items are collected for a 30-day recall period in the survey which is conducted by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.
- This method was stopped in 1993-94.
2. Mixed Recall Period (MRP)

- 2 sets of items
- 5 non-food items (clothing, footwear, durable goods, education and medical expenses) are surveyed for a 365-day recall period.
- Remaining items: 30-day recall period
3. Modified Mixed Recall Period (MMRP)

- 365-day recall period: clothing, footwear, durable goods, education and medical expenses
- 7-day recall period: edible oil; meat, fish and eggs; vegetables, fruits, spices; processed foods, refreshments and beverages; pan, tobacco and intoxicants.
- 30-day recall period: fuel and light; expenses like rents, taxes etc
- Basically, data collection period is more refined to make it more relevant to actual consumption period.
