Questions for the MAIN exam

  1. Critically Assess the outcomes of G-20 summit. How would you justify that the summit has been a major political and diplomatic success for G-20 and India?
  2. A reimagination of India’s health-care model can lead the country to becoming a powerhouse in AI-driven health-care solutions and a leader in combating non-communicable diseases. Comment.

QUOTATIONS AND CAPTIONS

  • Backwardness is the breeding ground of terror, and that is what we have to fight.
  • A reimagination of India’s health-care model can lead the country to becoming a powerhouse in AI-driven health-care solutions and a leader in combating non-communicable diseases.
  • The summit has been a major political and diplomatic success for G-20 and its current president, India.
  • The project’s goal is to establish a viable cheetah metapopulation in India that allows the animal to perform its functional role as a top predator and provides space for the expansion of the cheetah within its historical range.
  • With Africa’s inclusion in G20, the challenges posed by rapid population growth, persistent poverty, and widespread undernourishment become more serious.
  • The inability of global governance to impose checks and balances to ensure that the needs of less endowed countries are served is worrying.
  • The deepening relationship between India and Saudi Arabia has potential to change the dynamic of the subcontinent and West Asia.
  • Nipah outbreak holds lessons for governments on the need to improve disease surveillance and pharma industry to work on vaccines.
  • An ideal democracy entails decentralisation of power.
  • Instead of being self-governing, the panchayats are supplicants before petty government officials, who take orders from the ministers of the departments concerned.
  • The higher number of crimes that involve educated people, and increasing malpractices in every sector by the educated people point to our faulty education system.
  • Aspiring career-seekers should be given proper counselling to deal with exam-related stress and trained to handle depression and despondency.

ESSAY TOPIC

  • The heaviest penalty for declining to rule is to be ruled by someone inferior.

50-WORD TALK

  • The delivery of the first C295 aircraft, manufactured by a partnership between Airbus and Tata Advanced Systems, to the Indian Air Force is a major milestone for the country. The acquisition marks the beginning of a new era as it’s the first time an Indian private company will manufacture planes.
  • Supreme Court order on a policy for law enforcement agencies to brief media on ongoing criminal investigations was much needed. There is often irresponsible and breathless coverage of such probes. The police and other agencies are to blame for selective leaks and sharing sensitive information that can influence public opinion.
  • RBI’s order saying banks must hand over all loan-related assets within 30 days of payback or settlement will give relief to lakhs currently at the mercy of bank bureaucracy. Earlier, RBI also limited banks’ ability to charge penal interest. Such strictness with banks over their treatment of borrowers is timely.
