NATIONAL MISSION FOR CULTURAL MAPPING

Objective:

    • It was launched in 2017.
    • The execution of program is by Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts (IGNCA).
    • Mission Components:
      • Awareness generation by through competitions, awards etc.
      • Creating virtual platform for learning and database for cultural mapping.
      • Providing grants/scholarships/fellowships.
      • Provide unique cultural-Id for grading of artist.
      • Designing artist welfare schemes.
      • Developing cultural infrastructure like establishing KALA GRAMS.
      • Integrating culture with tourism.

Significance:

    • Preservation of culture
    • Fostering cultural awareness by providing free access to learning resources.
    • Sustainable employment generation in creative industries.
    • It will help in internationalization of Indian cultural heritage.
    • Cultural mapping can be utilised for promoting tourism industry.

Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar (My Village My Heritage)

    • It is a component of NMCM.
    • It aims to harness the unique cultural heritage of Indian villages by cultural mapping.
    • The common service centres (CSC) and local entrepreneurs are responsible for conducting meetings with villagers to gather interesting facts about the village.
