QUOTATIONS AND CAPTIONS

  • We must shift focus from individual success to collective well-being. Studies show that strong social connections, supportive communities, and meaningful work are critical to mental health. However, work-life balance and legal protection are increasingly under threat.
  • Improving mental health requires embracing community-oriented living that challenges the individualised lifestyle promoted by consumer culture.
  • Addressing India’s mental health crisis requires rethinking what it means to live a good life.
  • A truly good life is not about how much we can buy or achieve, but about how we relate to ourselves, our communities, and our environment.
  • The human brain is a social brain, and the social world is a cultural world.
  • Mental-level happiness is not about pleasure; it’s about mental satisfaction or fulfilment.
  • Following the 2019 revocation of Article 370, these elections were a landmark moment, reflecting the people’s desire for normalcy and statehood.
  • Generative AI’s ability to enhance employee productivity is becoming increasingly evident, especially in automating routine tasks.
  • Generative AI has evolved from a novelty in boardroom discussions to a transformative tool across industries. Extending the capabilities of traditional AI in automation and predictive modeling, it’s reshaping business processes, customer experiences, and employee productivity.
  • Achieving work-life balance is not solely a personal endeavour but it also has broader implications for society.
  • As technology improves and policies strengthen, energy efficiency will remain crucial in reducing energy demand and mitigating climate change.
  • By adopting energy-efficient practices, the country not only cuts emissions but also saves millions of tonnes of oil equivalent, leading to a more sustainable future.
  • In geopolitics, neighbours cannot be chosen and have to be managed. India, had, over the years, attempted to maintain ties with most of its neighbours.
  • India must remain awake to sharing the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation with China and Pakistan, which can catapult their bilateral tensions into India’s multilateral limitations.
  • Eco-friendly organic and precision farming not only addresses climate change and livelihoods; it also addresses the health challenges and fosters a healthy diet.
  • Sustainable agricultural practices are crucial in maintaining soil health, reducing the use of harmful pesticides, and minimising environmental impact, thus promoting the health of both people and the planet.
  • The legislation should aim for a balance between the object of fighting the constitutional sin of political defection and the principle of proportionality. Disentitlement of pension for the term of disqualification could achieve this balance. Ultimately, defection is a political problem and legal solutions have their limits.
  • Over the past decade, India’s Act East Policy (AEP) has deepened ties with Southeast Asia and has strengthened its role in the Indo-Pacific through connectivity, defence, and cultural initiatives.
  • AI can improve human decision-making, but it has its limits. The possibility exists that bias in algorithms can create an ethical risk that brings into question the reliability of the data produced by the system.

ESSAY TOPIC

  • The unexamined life is not worth living

50-WORD TALK

  • RBI’s change in stance to “neutral” is a good first step. It indicates a readiness to reduce interest rates in the near future. Lower-than-needed growth is becoming a concern, even as inflation comes under control. Rates should be cut soon. Cheaper credit can spur flagging urban consumption & private investment.
