QUOTATIONS AND CAPTIONS

  • The atomic bomb has deadened the finest feeling that has sustained mankind for ages.
  • The Green Revolution made India self-sufficient in foodgrains production and a leading exporter, but it is a tragic paradox that millions of people are going to sleep every night with pangs of hunger. Global agencies have recognised the increasing reliance on regenerative agriculture and the crucial role it plays in achieving net-zero targets through further agricultural CDR.
  • The internet can often be perceived as a lawless place, where the rules and taboos of society are easily broke.
  • Their diplomatic independence and strategic autonomy against the backdrop of the Ukraine crisis has accelerated their rise as an emerging force in global politics in a remarkably short period of time.
  • For India, BRICS is a favourable instrumental platform to realise its aspiration to achieve greater representation on the international stage.
  • BRICS success can only strengthen India’s foreign policy — and, conceivably, may even create some positive energy and ambience in its relations with China.
  • This dimension of the national movement taught us that beyond our religious identity lies another space, that of humanity.
  • Not only Data Protection Bill sound the death knell for the RTI Act, but it also makes anyone and everyone who deals with someone else’s information liable for prosecution for any breach of its provisions.
  • New seed technologies supported by scientific validation and enabling regulatory mechanisms offer significant advantages for sustainable agriculture at little additional cost.
  • For an economy stuck in a low level equilibrium, it can generate demonstration effects that are a powerful signal of credibility.

50-WORD TALK

  • The RTI Act creates a harmony between the RTI and the Right to Privacy within the exemption clause under section 8(1)(j), a balance that will be demolished through this new Act. Instead of fostering a similar balance, this current Bill supersedes the Right to Information Act and exploits the fundamental Right to Privacy as a justification and legal sanction to hide the use or misuse of public resources by any identifiable person including public officials.
